Terms of Enrollment
1. The school
Calverton Academy will operate as a private school registered with the Florida Department of Education. The school's current registration and accreditation status is shown, always up to date, at the bottom of every page of this website: Calverton Academy is a school in formation. It is not yet registered with a state department of education and is not accredited. Florida registration does not mean approval, recognition or accreditation by the State of Florida. Until enrollment opens, applications join a waiting list and no tuition is charged.
2. Recognition of the diploma
U.S. universities evaluate private-school diplomas together with the transcript and test scores. Recognition outside the United States is decided by each country's ministry or university. Some countries require in-person schooling, local exams, or their own equivalency process (for example, Egypt and Saudi Arabia for admission to local universities). Before enrollment we provide a written recognition note for the student's country. The family is responsible for confirming requirements with the relevant authority. Calverton Academy does not guarantee admission to any university or equivalency in any country.
3. Compulsory-education laws
Families are responsible for complying with the school-attendance laws of the state or country where the student lives. For U.S. students outside Florida, this may include filing a notice or affidavit with their state. We provide attendance records and documentation on request.
4. Graduation requirements
The diploma requires 24 credits in the distribution published in the course catalog, a cumulative GPA of at least 2.0, a senior capstone, passing proctored final exams in core courses, and at least [6] credits and two full semesters completed at Calverton Academy. Transfer credit is evaluated from official transcripts.
5. Tuition, deposit and refunds
Tuition is published on the website. After acceptance, a $250 enrollment deposit confirms the seat and is credited toward tuition. Refunds follow the standard used by the Distance Education Accrediting Commission (DEAC) unless Florida law requires otherwise:
- Cancellation within 5 calendar days of signing the enrollment agreement: full refund of everything paid, including the deposit.
- After that, the school may keep a registration fee of up to $200 (the deposit counts toward it). Of the remaining tuition for the term, the school refunds 90% if the student has completed 10% or less of the term, 75% if more than 10% and up to 25%, and 50% if more than 25% and up to 50%. No refund is due after 50% of the term is completed.
- For single courses, the same percentages apply to the course.
- Completion is measured by the share of the term (or course) that has elapsed or the share of lessons completed, whichever is lower for the family.
- Refunds are paid within 30 days of the written withdrawal request, to the original payment method.
6. Academic integrity
Students must do their own work. Exams may use full-screen lockdown, event logging, live proctoring and a short oral check. Use of AI tools is allowed only where the teacher states it, and must be disclosed. Violations lead to graduated consequences, up to withdrawal from the course or the school, with a right to appeal to the academic integrity panel.
7. Conduct and safety
Respectful behavior is required in live classes, messages and forums. Live classes may be recorded for students who are absent and for safeguarding. Staff are trained in child safeguarding and must report suspected abuse as required by Florida law.
8. Technology
Families provide a computer with a camera, a microphone and a reliable internet connection. Proctored finals require a second camera (a phone is fine) or attendance at a partner test center.
9. Official tests
SAT, PSAT and AP are administered by College Board, and ACT by ACT Education Corp. Students register and pay those organizations directly. Calverton Academy is not affiliated with them. Scores appear on the Calverton Academy transcript only after verification.
10. Changes, governing law and contact
